Hi All,

Some of you know about a little project i'm working on to create a media box with an html interface for my mp3's and video's at home using php/mysql and the wonderful BrowseAMP. The interface will hook up localy to a TV and eventually will also work as a network jukebox for any PC on the local LAN.

Well i'm going to miss my release date, so I thought i'd throw up some screenshots to whet your appetites

The screenshots are utilising the old skin without the XML skinning interface as it's not quite finished. The new skin has a nice chrome/blue feel to it and should be done soon. Best of all everything i've used in the project is feely available and when i'm done my interface will also be free to anyone who wants it...

The first shot is the standard playlist, second shot is the playlist with winamp's AVS module running in overlay mode behind it (yum, you have to see it moving!) and the third shot is the album browser in it's current form. This is also being simplified... too many buttons!!!

Anyway, any feedback is most welcome.

Cheers,

Ben.

[email protected]

and now for the screenshots, they can be found at my homepage link to the side. for some reason the forum won't let me link to them directly... grr

Playlist 1
Playlist with AVS
Album browser
I felt free to add them manually (Henry)

If you have any trouble, please email me.

Ben.

[email protected]
http://www.viewbuild.com/ben/

Ben,

You've got to get this thing finished and passed around. I'd love to know how the inner workings of it work. Even better, Henry needs to get a skins page set up so we all can download this stuff. There are a ton of good design ideas out there. Best not to let them go to waste.

[email protected]

Hi Scott,

The skin itself isn't actually for browseAMP per say. It runs on a seperate webserver using PHP to interact with a mySQL database and uses browseAMP to integrate with WinAMP...

For anyone who is interested, there's a new screenshot of the new skin (in progress) on my website. The skinning engine is working quite nicely now, this will be the first test of it's capabilities.. mmm multi level alpha blending mmmm. hehe

Ben.

[email protected]
http://www.viewbuild.com/ben/

Hi All,

I received a wonderful christmas present thismorning. In 2 to 4 weeks i'll be made redundant.

On the plus side though, it does mean i should have a sizeable chunk of time to work on the TV interface while i decide what i want to do with my life / apply for new jobs.

In latest news, i have a scrolling position bar working for the songs position and the skinning interface is working much better than i had ever anticipated. it's all very flexible

Anwyay, more screenshots soon, until then, have a great holiday everyone!

Cheers,

Ben.

[email protected]
http://www.viewbuild.com/ben/

Ben, this looks really cool. Sorry to hear about the loss of a job, but at least you'll have more time for the project.

I'm in the middle of putting together the hardware for an MP3 player, using VIA's mini-itx motherboard. If somebody (you?!?) made a front end even better than BrowseAmp, I'd be *so* d██n thrilled.

And I have to add that I love BrowseAmp. Thanks to programmers like you guys...

Cheers,
Tackett

[email protected]

Hi Tackett,

My interface works along side browseamp. basically you set browseamp running, then use my interface as a database frontend to an mp3 library. all categoriesed and sorted nicely etc

Anyway, if it sounds like your kettle of fish and you're up to a challenge (it's a little technical to set up, but not too bad) let me know and i'll keep you posted when i release it in jan/feb... I may even start beta testing before that now that i have more time on my hands...

Cheers,

Ben.

[email protected]
http://www.viewbuild.com/ben/
