Okay! How about this variation on maxlength=x...

Throw out the middle n characters to make the string x characters long?

Example (maxlength = 32):

Gone in 60 Seconds (Soundtrack) - 01 - The Cult - Painted On My Heart

Becomes...

Gone in 60 Seco...ed On My Heart

If not, how about a pointer on how to do it with Java or something?  :-D

Here is some JavaScript for you. It was tested should work fine for you.
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/JavaScript">
var Title="<#SongTitle>";  // string inserted by BrowseAmp
if(Title.length > 20)
  {
  document.write(Title.substr(0,10));
  document.write("...");
  document.write(Title.substr(Title.length-10));
  }
</script>

A slightly improved version of Henry's JavaScript:

<script language="JavaScript" type="text/JavaScript">

function printValue(Title) {
    if(Title.length > 20)
    {
        document.write(Title.substr(0,10));
        document.write("...");
        document.write(Title.substr(Title.length-10));
    } else {
        document.write(Title);
    }
}

</script>
Put this in your html somewhere, e.g. within <head></head>. Then, everytime you want to print a limited length string, insert:
<script language="JavaScript" type="text/JavaScript">
    printValue("<#SongTitle>");
</script>

Mmmm, like the ini file stuff, especially the default value idea. It even works properly with commented out lines in the ini file.

Nice job!!  :)

Yes my does too :D

btw hi everybody im back :)

and it seems to me i found 2 bugs.

first: the "Remove played songs" options doenst work to me. the songs stay into the playlist

second: the "keep playlist alive" options only add random tracks if only one track is left into the playlist.
this is bad because the first bug :D

and if there are more tracks it jumps to the first track and start playing from the beginning

Love the plug-in.  It seems I can't get <#CurrentIndex> to work at all though.  Is this a bug or am I doing something wrong (which is highly likely)?

What I'm trying to do is get the path of the currently playing song to display the cover art I have in that folder.  Any suggestions?

Thanks!

I told you it was likely something I did... hate to admit it, but I didn't have 2.01 like I thought.  DOH!

I must be missing something...

I put in the Script function in my main HTML page, then used the "code" portion in the playlist_row.html and every song turned into the playing song.

Can you show a few examples of how you would use the JS in the template files?

OR maybe henry will build this into the plug-in and just let us set a variable?  :-D
