forum doesn't seem to auto log in even tho i tell it to.

I already started the search for all my cover art. But with 226 different artists, not to mention the idividual CD covers, its going to take awhile. :-D

good thing i was already anal about how a keep my collections
/artist/albums

so hopefully it wont take THAT long.
Thanks again

I thought I'd also share the graphics that I did for pages where pictures of album art or artists aren't applicable:

The JPG that I called main.jpg gets renamed cover.jpg and put in the main directory, e.g. c:\music
The JPG that I called holiday.jpg gets renamed cover.jpg and put into c:\music\holiday -- the directory where I put all of the Holiday CD's
The JPG that I called compilations.jpg gets renamed cover.jpg and put into c:\music\compilations -- the directory where directory where I put all of the compilation CD's
The JPG that I called soundtracks.jpg gets renamed cover.jpg and put into c:\music\soundtracks -- the directory where I put all of the soundtrack CD's.

I took the graphics and edited them -- now they lack the jagged edges (but are kinda blurry).
Hope you like them,

-Tom

That's me above.  I have no idea what happened, so I switched over to Netscape.

Why can't I upload zip/sit/hqx (I got desperate...) files?

Go here for the archive. Just click "Files!".
Any Geocities webpage is best viewed in Netscape, cause it kills the annoying little ad window.

You have to register before you upload any files.

Thanks, Tom.    Sorry for the unprofessional look of those images -- I just downloaded the jukebox picture off of a free clipart web page & added the text using Microsoft Paint.

I've attached one file that I forgot to post -- it goes into the \playlists directory & appears when you're in the Playlist Manager screen.

Regards
BB

is there some reason that teh "cover.jpg" art doesnt show up on a computer that is not the host for this skin??? I First tried on WAN and thought that possibly it doesn't work that way even tho i couldnt think why. so i tried it no my own local LAN and it would connect and sho the play list and the catalog but no grafics.

Ken

On an intranet, cover art and descriptions (which I've now added in a file called description.html for each title, stuff like date released, when/where recorded for live stuff, detailed track info for rare compilations, etc.) can be seen on any PC on the network by mapping a common drive letter (e.g. M:) and using that as a reference in the html code.

Over the internet, it can also be done -- but it requires also running an http server (I use Apache).  You can see it at my demo:  www.musicmannet.tk

I run browseamp on port 81 and Apache on port 82.

Another thing about cover.jpg and description.htm display -- it requires a web browser that supports vbscript (I think that IE is the only one).  I get the URL paths for these files from the <#currentdirectory> variable passed by browseamp.  Unfortunately, this has backslashes in it & it can only be turned into a URL by putting it through vbscript -- javascript just doesn't play with backslashes, which is interprets as escape characters.

Henry has said that he'd help me out on this one soon by providing the <#currentdirectory> data with forward rather than back slashes in a future release.  This will allow me to recode in javascript and will let MusicMan run on just about any browser (including the Opera browser that my Zaurus PDA uses).  Thanks, Henry!

bb80301, you can probably escape the backslashes yourself. Just enter each one as "\". This works in most languages, I've just started javascript so I'm not 100% what the syntax is, but this is how Java does it, as well as most Unix shells. Try it and see.

For the album pictures, how about getting the straight from AllMusic directly? For example, a folder named "The Beatles" displays the band image you get when you search for the band on AllMusic.

I'm sure they wouldn't mind, provided you made the image a link to their website.  :)  An automatic link would be a really useful feature for the skin, as it's a great site for music info.

You might even be able to create a frame (or similar) with the entire AllMusic page, with a search based on the current selection in your skin.
